Black eye and this and that

I have been so tired and busy lately that it has been hard to update!
I have been following a blog for quite some time. A blog of a 10 month old girl, Kayleigh, who was born 3 months early, and has gone through a tremendous amount in her short time on Earth. She is an absolutely beautiful baby. She is still in the Nicu. Although I have never met her, I have become emotionally attached to this little girl. The past few days have been very hard for her family. She is not expected to make it. I just can't even imagine what they are going through. I have come to realize that I am so lucky to have my family. To have health and two beautiful little girls in my life. If you would like to read more about Kayleigh, you can visit her blog at http://kayleighannefreeman.blogspot.com
There is less than a week left until March of Dimes!!! We are getting excited. No, I haven't made my goal. But, I am proud that we did the best that we could.
Last Friday Miley fell and bumped her eye. She got a nice shiner from her fall. She is walking all the time, and is still a little bit clumsy. She only cried for a bit. And, it was hard to look at her poor eye for a few days. Today it is almost gone. I felt so bad for my baby with her black eye!

A party in my hair

Poodle is at it again!!! She made some super cute hair bows for the girls. This kind is my absolute favorite, but I can only find them at Gymboree with barrettes on the back. Well, barrettes won't stay in the girls hair. So, Poodle made us special curlies with the clips that WILL stay. I love them!
Miley eating and showing off her curlies.

Irelyn in her new curlies.

In other news, Miley is obsessed with closing doors. She wants all doors to be closed. Cabinet doors, bedroom doors, front doors, any door must be closed. Here she is closing the front door. She gets so mad when she can't shut it! (She is also getting 2 molars- while Irelyn still only has her lonely two teeth.)

Poodle and Grandpa's

After going to Gymboree this morning we went to my parents house.
The girls always love going over there. Plus, they got to show off their walking skills! Thank you Poodle and Grandpa for feeding the girls dinner. Oh, and by the way, for anyone that doesn't know...yes, we call my mom Poodle. Not Grandma, but Poodle. :) No particular reason, but it suits her perfectly.

Shhh.....we got a few more things at Gymboree today :).

Miley can walk!!! And other weekend talk....

Miley didn't want Irelyn to do all the walking, so she started walking a couple days ago!!!! Yesterday she did 11 steps in a row without falling...yay!!! I have two mobile walkers!!!
I went out to lunch and to get pedicures with my friends Julie and Carrie, and my sister
Katie yesterday. We had a lot of fun. So relaxing! Daddy watched the girls and mommy even got the girls some new clothes from Gymboree (although she plans to buy more). Daddy even bathed the girls while mommy was gone.
But, as you can see from the pictures...daddy doesn't know how to match their clothes, lol.
Miley walking in her daddy chosen outfit.

Irelyn walking in her daddy chosen clothing....red shirt, pink pants, blue bow, nice.

Miley and Irelyn's new Gymboree clothes!

Today Jacy is going with us to Gymboree. We'll have a lot of fun!

To match or not to match....

When I was pregnant with Miley and Irelyn people always wanted to know whether they would wear matching clothes. Even now, when people find out that I have twins, they want to know the same thing.
Well, the answer is no. I know that MANY people put their twins in matching clothing for a variety of reasons, but not me. Here are my top two reasons why I do not:
1. They are not the same person and have different personalities, therefore should wear different clothes. (Plus, they are fraternal, not identical)
2. Buying two of the same outfit is expensive. It would cost me double what I am already paying. This way I feel like I have more options and get more for my money.
Now, if the girls choose to match in the future...well that is up to them. But, for me...no matching.
How do I dress them?
Three styles (pics included of two)
1. Similar or same clothing, different colors, or a variation in the design. As in the overalls in pink and gray. Or another example- they may both wear outfits with turtles on them but are completely different.

2. Things that are not the same, but look cute together...like the colors look nice together. Chose an old picture for this one...

3. Whatever is clean and doesn't match one another at all. This is usually the case. Whatever I feel like they would look cute in that day.

We will see if we continue to do this. I love clothes from Gymboree (Which, yay it is Gymbucks time) and usually I can find the perfect clothes there for whatever my mood may be. But for now, like I said, no matching.
On another note...well, I can make it fit this post....
Irelyn got new shoes today. She chose them. Miley did not get matching ones :).

And, I was so happy to get the mail today. The girls got their shirts that they will be wearing for the March of Dimes!!!! So excited!!! And they match number one. They are the same shirt...but it different colors. :)

Renewed hope

I am feeling a renewed hope for reaching my March of Dimes goal!!! My friend Jen sponsored me today and I am really hoping that I can actually reach my goal!
If you are tired of hearing about this, I am sorry.
Why does this matter so much to me you may ask. My girls are doing well, why would this be so important?
I think back on the time my girls were in the Nicu. Irelyn was there for six weeks and Miley for seven. It was the absolute hardest time in my life. Each day I walked into the hospital I was so afraid of what I would find. Would things have changed since I left only hours earlier? Thinking back on this is extremely emotional to me. I know you think I should just get over it. I am trying and doing much better about it since the girls turned one. But, I do not want anyone to have to experience the emotional roller coaster called the Nicu. I did not know that my girls would be preemies. Heck, I didn't even really know what a preemie was until I had mine. March of Dimes is searching for answers to end prematurity and to find ways that all babies are born healthy. As every child deserves to be healthy.
I set my goal at $1,000. Looking back at this, I realize that it was probably too high. The economy is crappy and their are tons of unemployed people. Still, I think about reaching my goal many times a day. For those who have already donated to me...thank you soooo much. For those unable to contribute, I completely understand. If you are still interested in sponsoring me, click on the March of Dimes logo on the side of my page. Please know...that any donation counts!!!
Here are a couple of my favorite pictures from the Nicu. The girls are a couple weeks old.

Thank you so much for all your love and support.

In other news, the girls have begun to "talk" more. Here is a word list
Irelyn- mama, dada, dog, bye bye, ut oh, thank you, ball, and tons of lalalala singing
Miley- mama, dada, dog, down, done, grandpa, papa, ut oh, ball, dog, what's that (Sounds like whatsat), hi, bye bye, no
I think that is all. Irelyn loves to sing and Miley loves to try to repeat what you are saying. Thye are both simply adorable.
Thanks for reading

Easter- Part 2

Today is Easter!!!! The girls woke up happy, as usual. There was an Easter puppy in their room too!

The girls went into the living room and checked out their Easter baskets.

Then we headed to Katie's house for lunch and an egg hunt. We were very lucky that Jacy came with us! Today we were a bit smarter. We held Miley so she didn't have to crawl on the grass for the eggs. She knew to grab the eggs and put them in her basket. Much better than yesterday. Lunch was yummy (just ask Miley).
An overall great day!

Easter- Part 1

Today was Easter part 1...Easter at Cameron's parents house.
There was an Easter egg hunt in the back yard. Neither Miley or Irelyn have crawled around in grass before. Irelyn loved it. She crawled around and grabbed eggs. Miley did not like the feel of the grass. She just wanted to sit in mommy's lap. But, it was great spending time with family. And, the girls loved their Easter baskets!
What fun!

Spring Pictures (Thanks Julie!)

Julie took some pictures of the girls today. We are so lucky to have Julie take the girls pictures!
We took a picture of the girls in the old basket...not quite the same effect, but I still love it!

Our Easter bunny!

30 days and counting

Only 30 days until the March of Dimes walk! I really wanted to raise $1,000, but with the economy being so horrible, I'm not feeling very optimistic. Every little bit counts, even a $5 donation! The March of Dimes/March for Babies is such a wonderful cause. If you haven't donated, and would like to, please click on the March of Dimes button on the right side.
Thank you for helping to create a future where all babies are born healthy.

I hope you all have fantastic, relaxing weekends. I am getting my hair done tomorrow and on Sunday we are having the girls Easter pictures taken (without the bunny, lol) and going to Gymboree. Should be a great weekend!

IRELYN CAN WALK!!

Yes, this is post #4 of the evening. Had a lot of catching up to do.
Anyway, bad mommy...forgot to tell you that Irelyn started to walk about 2 weeks ago!!!! She can walk across our living room. While she still prefers to walk, she is so cute when she walks. So proud!

What's Miley up to?
Well she still loves to eat...especially fruit.

Really though, if you ask her where her head is, she can point to it. She can also stand on her own, she just hasn't taken a step yet. She is so darn cute though. I know she'll be running soon enough!
