Colors

So, a little while back I thought we were really learning our colors. Irelyn knew red, blue, and pink. Then Miley started learning them. She decided everything was pink. So, Irelyn copied her and now everything is pink to her too :(.
I need an action plan. I put these color circles on the wall. I originally only wanted to start with the three primary colors, but threw pink in there since they love to say it so much. We have practiced them again, and again. Even though they aren't saying all the colors, they at least point to them.

Then, I decided to fingerpaint today. Well, of course, I decided to just use those colors.

It really turned out to be a lot of fun.

Miley didn't even want to get down. She just wanted to paint! Funny thing is she used to hate to have paint on her hands. Guess not anymore!

Finished products

Hopefully we will have the colors mastered soon enough!

New sweaters

As I'm sure you know, I don't like Miley and Irelyn to match. If they own the same item, they just wear it on different days. Trevor and Myeong got Miley and Irelyn the cutest Gap sweaters and something came over me and made me put them in them at the same time. I was also a bit curious to see if they looked more like twins if they were wearing the same thing.
What do you think? Look more alike? Or not?

What is a "mimi?"

Miley and Irelyn's favorite word is.....mimi.
Awhile back, Grandma gave the girls two stuffed M&M's. I told them they were M&M's and they repeated back, mimi. Makes some sense I suppose. Then, Christmas came around. Mimi's were EVERYWHERE? How? Well, they decided that any snowman was a mimi. I don't know exactly why. I am guessing that it looks similar to the M&M's little face. Thus, anything with a little face, was called a mimi. They shout it at the top of their lungs. They share their food with mimi's. The Christmas tree was filled with mimi's. Mimi's are everywhere. Today I began taking down the Christmas decorations. I think I will leave a few "Mimi's" around. The girls just love them so much :).
The original M&M....uh, mimi

See any resemblance? :)

Having Preemies

If I end up posting this it will be surprising....
Call me crazy, I know, call me what you want, but I still am bothered by the fact that Miley and Irelyn were preemies. I was sending some pictures to my sister last night and started looking at some pictures of the girls when they were in the Nicu. I see pictures like this all the time, yet sometimes it really bothers me. This morning, while driving to the bank I started crying. Ridiculous, I know. I just feel like my body let me down. I know that being pregnant with twins means that you have a higher chance of early delivery, but 29 and a half weeks? Really? What happened to 40 weeks?
Irelyn was in the Nicu for 6 weeks and Miley for 7.5 weeks. They were released from the hospital before their due dates and they are doing amazing. I mean, Miley is in the 90th percentile for height and weight. She is no preemie anymore. Yet, I still have this sadness because they were born so early.
The girls are almost 2 years old. I hope this feeling goes away. I hope it doesn't haunt me forever. And, even more importantly, I hope the girls do not remember their Nicu experience. I hope they do not remember their fight to stay alive. We had a relatively smooth ride. I can't even imagine how some other parents feel.
It may be mean to say, but I don't believe that you even understand how I feel unless you have been in my shoes. If you, had a preemie (or knew someone VERY close to you who did). I just hope this feel goes away. Don't pity me. Miley and Irelyn are absolutely amazing girls. They have come SO incredibly far. I just wish I could lose this nagging feeling.
Sorry, to ramble today.
A few early on pics that I like. I would say the girls were about a month old.

Chuck-E-Cheese

A couple weeks ago Miley and Irelyn went to Chuck-E-Cheese for the first time. Miley was pretty much scared of everything (as usual). Irelyn was a bit scared but wanted to explore everything. We went with friends Kasi, Sarah, Drea, and David. It was a ton of work for me, being in charge of both girls in this new place, but definitely a lot of fun. I didn't get very many good pictures because I was SO busy watching them, but you get the idea :).

Mission Inn Part 2

We went back to the Mission Inn last week. Because it was so crowded last time we wanted to give it another try. It was so much better this time. The girls got to see the lights without being completely surrounded by strangers. I love this time of year...and so do the girls!
