Ultra time consuming notebooks

I don't mind the start of a new school year. I like starting things out fresh. A few years ago a teacher that I used to teach with showed me this great idea of hers, writer's notebooks. They are composition books covered with different types of fabrics, using colored duct tape, and ribbon book marks. The students absolutely LOVE them. They get to choose which one they want and can write whatever they choose in it. They have always been something that I have to have. But, they take SO long to make. I have been working so hard on them. Did I mention they take forever? :) But, they are finally finished. I am happy. Until next year, when I start again. I should make some throughout the year, but I don't. Karen, I love your idea!! They are the best thing...I just wish they didn't take so long :).
Happy Tuesday!

Those are really neat and I bet the kids absolutely love "shopping" for their perfect notebook!! I would never have the patience to make 25 of those suckers! For our writer's notebooks, I use spiral notebooks and have the students take them home and and decorate with pictures of themselves, stickers, baseball cards, or whatever...collage style. Then I cover them with clear contact paper. A LOT less time consuming for ME!
I do love your idea though. Those would be really cute notebooks for my girls to make and give as gifts or to use. Thanks for the idea!!
Good luck with a new school year!

That's a great idea! I would love to have gotten one from one of my teachers.

Those look really awesome! I don't know which one I'd pick. Possibly the black and white crossword one, or the BRIGHT pink flowery one...

Those are so cute! I'm sure a ton of work (how many kids are in your class? do you guys not have CSR or you just make extra?), but everytime they pull them out, you get to look at those adorable notebooks! I may have to do something like that, TFS!

Kristen- We do have CSR, but I am going from primary (20 students) to 4th grade (34 students). They are well worth it though!

You could always make it a first day of school activity, bring in the fabric and tape and have the make their own. They turned out awesome though Kelly, I wish I had a teacher like you when I was younger.
