March 17

Ahh, March 17th.....
The day we like to call, "Together again for the first time."
March 17, 2008 Miley was released from the Nicu (finally!). It was such a wonderful homecoming because Miley and Irelyn actually were able to "meet" each other for the first time since I had been pregnant. They had never been near each other in the Nicu. I had no idea what to expect. I had no idea how I would handle twins, let alone preemie twins. But, it was an amazing day. One we will never forget!

Ready to go home!

Proud parents

It is a funny thing. When we got home from the Nicu with Miley, Irelyn was in the pack-n-play. So, we put Miley right beside her and didn't know what to expect. They were drawn to each other like magnets. Squirmed right up beside each other. The cutest thing...really.
First time near each other- automatically drawn to each other

Later that evening

How I found them the very next morning

Later the next day

They just couldn't get enough of each other!! It just melts my heart!!!!

We will celebrate this day every year. We got them each a book to celebrate today. Excuse the grainy pics, my camera is acting up.

Mom wants us to cooperate and take a nice pic...yea right :)

And, I know, I know, I just blogged about this....
We are very lucky that Miley and Irelyn have done so incredibly well being born at 29 weeks. But, babies should not be born this early. No one...parent or baby should have to live the Nicu experience. March of Dimes is a wonderful organization that does everything they can to ensure that all babies are born healthy. Please help to sponsor me. There is a link at the side of my blog that you can click to donate. Any donation can help save babies!
