Bottle

I am sure many people will judge me by posting this...but oh well.

Yes, my girls are 2. Miley stopped drinking out of a bottle awhile ago. Irelyn, not so much. So, yes judge- My daughter is 2 and drinks out of a bottle. Just the mention of her drinking out of a cup put her in absolute hysterics. Funny thing is that every night when Irelyn got her bottle (she only got one per day) Miley would say, over and over, "sister, baby, ba-ba (bottle)." Well, I told myself that this was the month to stop. For goodness sakes, she is two. I knew this was going to be hard...especially on me. Why? Well, Irelyn doesn't like to eat. I think she relies on the milk from the bottle at night. She loves Velveeta mac-n-cheese, and that's about it. So, Wednesday was the night. She cried because she didn't get her beloved bottle, but it wasn't anything too terrible. Of course she wouldn't drink out of the cup. And, she stayed up until 10:00pm (I think she just didn't know what to do), but we survived night number one. On to last night....she didn't even ask for the bottle! Of course, she didn't drink out of the cup....but we survived...and she went to bed at 8:00pm. A little late for bed, but we'll take it! Tonight is night number three. I hear this can be the hardest...but we'll keep our fingers crossed!

I would like to thank fellow blogger friend Sera for an idea she gave me. She cut the nipples off her daughters pacifier, with hopes to get rid of it completely from her daughter. I did the same with a bottle and I purposely left it out on the coffee table. Irelyn found the bottle and said, "Ot, oh, ba-ba broke." Miley told her daddy broke it :). I went with it, and told her that she would have to drink out of a cup because there were no more bottles. She didn't cry or anything. I have purposely kept it around so she doesn't forget that they are all broken. She has been totally okay seeing this. Again, fingers crossed for tonight!!!!!!!! (And fingers crossed she decides to drink her milk from one of the 5 million sippy cups we own :).)

no judgment from me...sydney still uses her binky for nap and night time. i have NO idea how to get rid of it...she LOVES it! and she won't use a stuffy or blankie as a pacifier. good idea w/ the cutting off the nipple though. i might have to try that. bottles were actually pretty easy for us...which was a shock b/c i used a bottle until i was 2.5....

good luck tonight :)

i'm not judging, either! alex and max are 22 months old and still get one bottle in the morning and one at night. and alex still has his binky.

i'm just too tired to deal with it right now!!

Great ideas Kelly!! Thomas is down to one bottle at night too and it is the only way he will drink his milk. But I like this idea.

Good luck tonight!

SWEET! I'm so glad to hear this works. That's exactly what we did with the pacifiers. We left the "broken" ones all around, and she accepted that really well.
